The other isomers are pyridine-2-carboxaldehyde and pyridine-4-carboxaldehyde. It is a colorless liquid that is routinely available commercially. It can be produced from nicotinonitrile. Alternatively, it arises by the aerobic oxidation of the corresponding alcohol.
