text: Isabel Bras Williamson, was a Scottish merchant. She was born as Isabel Bras and married the Edinburgh merchant Thomas Williamson. After his death she took responsibility for the business, particularly trading with Flanders. She was a supplier of the royal court, traded in cloth with Europe and had an important part in the Scottish textile industry. She later acquired land at Mortonhall and founded a chaplaincy in 1489 at the alter of St. Lawrence in St. Giles, Edinburgh.
