The German Zündwaren monopoly began in 1930 when Germany's Reichstag passed a bill named Zündwarenmonopolgesetz, which allowed the Deutsche Zündwaren-Monopolgesellschaft exclusive rights to distribute safety matches within the borders of the German Empire.
