William Welsh was a merchant, ship owner and politician in Prince Edward Island. He represented Queen's County in the House of Commons of Canada from 1887 to 1896 as an Independent Liberal and then Liberal member. Welsh represented 4th Queens in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1873 to 1878 as a Liberal member. He was born on Prince Edward Island, the son of Charles Welsh, and educated in Charlottetown. In 1854, he married Maria J. Pethick. He was a justice of the peace and
