William Sylvester Silkworth, referred to in the U.S. press as "W. S. Silkworth", was an American financier known being president of the Consolidated Stock Exchange of New York and being forced to resign because of scandal. starting in 1919. He was also a sport shooter who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. In 1924, he won the gold medal as member of the American team in the team clay pigeons competition.
