Sir William Kelsey Fry was a British dental surgeon and an important
figure in the development of oral and maxillo-facial reconstructive surgery during World War I. He was born in 1889 in Greenwich, the son of Kate and Edmund Fry, a stone merchant. He was educated at Hurstpierpoint College and Guy's Hospital where he qualified as a doctor and a dental surgeon. During World War I he was a regimental medical officer attached to the Royal Welch Fusiliers, landing in France with the 7th Division in
