text: William Walstan Crawley-Boevey is an English mathematician. Since 2016, he has been Alexander von Humboldt Professor at Universität Bielefeld, on leave from his position as Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Leeds. His research concerns representation theory and the theory of quivers. Crawley-Boevey is the second son of Sir Thomas Crawley-Boevey, 8th Baronet. He studied at the City of London School and read mathematics at St John's College, Cambridge. He received his PhD in 1986
