text: William Auchinleck was the president of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 1829. W. Auchinleck was born in Dublin on 19 May 1787. On 6 August 1802, Auchinleck was indentured to Gerard Macklin, and commenced his studies at the College of Surgeons and Mercer's Hospital. On 23 June 1810, he became a licentiate, and on 7 April a member of the College.
