text: Wiener Eislaufverein is an ice-sports club located in Vienna, Austria. They were founded in 1867 and the club's greatest successes have been in ice hockey, figure skating, and speed skating. Historian James R. Hines states that figure skating has a long tradition in Vienna and that the Wiener AV is one of the world's oldest and most active skating clubs. Hines also states that American skater Jackson Haines, who influenced the early history of the sport and who helped develop the Viennese style
