Wheatland is the common name of a house built in 1838 in the Knob Creek Historic District, near present-day Johnson City. Also known as the William P. Reeves House or the Clark House, the house was built by William Pouder Reeves and his brother Peter Miller Reeves on 400 acres (1.6 km2), purchased for $5500. Both brothers married daughters of Valentine DeVault. William and Peter were both trained as carpenters, and traveled through North Carolina taking commissions for important buildings, such
