text: Whaplode Drove is a village in the civil parish of Whaplode, in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire, England. It is approximately 10 miles (16 km) south from the market town of Spalding. The hamlet of Shepeau Stow is 1 mile (1.6 km) to the south-west. Whaplode Drove is a largely rural village and lies in the middle of the Lincolnshire Fens. The name 'Whaplode' derives from the Old English cwappa-lad meaning 'eel pout watercourse'.
