Walter S. Grant was a career officer in the United States Army. He served from 1900 to 1946 and attained the rank of major general. Grant was a veteran of World War I and World War II, and his awards included the Army Distinguished Service Medal and Legion of Merit. A native of Ithaca, New York, Grant graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1900 and began a long career with the Cavalry branch.
