Wakayanagi was a town located in Kurihara District, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. In 2003, the town had an estimated population of 14,149 and a population density of 269.20 persons per km2. The total area is 52.56 km2. On April 1, 2005, Wakayanagi, along with the towns of Ichihasama, Kannari, Kurikoma, Semine, Shiwahime, Takashimizu, Tsukidate and Uguisuzawa, and the village of Hanayama, was merged to create the city of Kurihara.
