Virola calophylla is a species of tree in the family Myristicaceae. It is native to Central America and South America, namely Panama,
Guyana, Suriname, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. The tree grows 5 to 25 metres tall and it is found in low altitude evergreen forests. The fruit is ellipsoid to ovoid and subglobular, 19 to 32 millimetres long and 12 to 20 millimetres in diameter in groups of 1 to 32.
