He is a Chartered Accountant by profession. He is a trusted aide of two former Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh: Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy and Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy. He is a founding and senior member of the YSR Congress Party and often considered the second-in-charge of the party.
