The University of Ghana is a public university located in Accra, Ghana. It is the oldest public university in Ghana. The university was founded in 1948 as the University College of the Gold Coast in the British colony of the Gold Coast. It was originally an affiliate college of the University of London, which supervised its academic programs and awarded degrees.
