Turlough, is a village in County Mayo, Ireland, 6 km northeast of Castlebar. It is known for the presence of the Museum of Country Life, and for its well-preserved and unusually squat round tower, built between 900 and 1200. Turlough is also the name of the encompassing civil parish and the surrounding 241-acre townland. The village lies along the Castlebar River just off the N5 road, and the countryside around the village is scattered with standing stones, a holy well, fulachtaí fia, and cillín
