The trans-Saharan slave trade was a slave trade between sub-Saharan Africa and North Africa in which slaves were mainly transported across the Sahara. It was part of the Arab slave trade,, the slave trades of Berbers, Mali Empire, Kanem-Bornu Empire, Ghana Empire, Songhai Empire, and also known as the Islamic slave trade.
