Switzerland has tobacco legislation defined at federal and cantonal level. It covers protection of the population against passive smoking, restrictions on tobacco advertising, warnings on packaging and taxes. The Federal Act on Tobacco Products and Electronic Cigarettes is due to come into force on 1 October 2024. It will harmonise a series of measures at the federal level.
