Thomas Arthur, M.D. (1593–1666?), was an Irish Roman Catholic physician. Arthur was born to a Limerick family, many members of which had filled municipal offices in that city in early times. His father's name being William, he often styled himself Thomas Arthur Fitz-William. He was educated at Bordeaux, and afterwards studied medicine in Paris. In May 1619, having returned to his native country, he began a successful practice in Limerick, and soon gained the reputation of a skilful physician. In
