Tarussky District is an administrative and municipal district (raion), one of the twenty-four in Kaluga Oblast, Russia. It is located in the east of the oblast. The area of the district is 714.6 square kilometers (275.9 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Tarusa. Population: 16,603 (2021 Census); 15,255 (2010 Russian census); 15,680; 14,848 (1989 Soviet census). The population of Tarusa accounts for 59.7% of the district's total population.
