Survivre (Survive), later renamed Survivre et Vivre, was a political group founded on 27 July 1970 in Montreal, with the goals of promoting pacificism, ecology, and a new kind of science. It was headed by the French mathematician Alexander Grothendieck and later included several other well-known mathematicians such as Claude Chevalley and Pierre Samuel, as well as about 50 or 60 other members, both in North America and France.
