His father Jacob Vennekool was an assistant to Jacob van Campen, along with Pieter Post, Arent van 's Gravesande, Bartholomeus Drijflhout, Willem de Keyser, and Daniël Stalpaert and learned from him the neo-classical styles made popular by Palladio and Vincenzo Scamozzi.
