Stephen Hopkins Spurr was an American professor and ecologist. He served as the 20th president of the University of Texas at Austin from 1971 to 1974. Spurr was born in Washington, D.C., and earned his bachelor's degree in botany from the University of Florida in 1938. He then attended Yale University, where he earned his master's degree in forestry in 1940, followed by his doctorate in 1950.
