text: Stanley Crook is a village in County Durham, in England. It is situated to the north of Crook and Billy Row. The area is rural, surrounded by open farm land and woodland. There are several farms and many small holdings. It is a small former mining village which used to have two collieries. During the 1970s, the village was classified as category D, which meant the council wished to demolish the whole village. However, this did not happen, only 3 streets were demolished.
