Kaye was baptised at Almondbury, on 4 September 1697, the eldest son of George Kaye of Denby Grange, Kirkheaton, Yorkshire, and his wife Dorothy Savile, daughter of Robert Savile of Bryan Royd, near Elland, Yorkshire.
