Silverton is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about 85 kilometres (53 mi) south of the state capital of Adelaide and about 24 kilometres (15 mi) south-west of the municipal seat in Yankalilla. Silverton began in 1864 as a sub-division of part of section 116 in the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Waitpinga developed by John Wrathall Bull in response to mining activity at the nearby Talisker silver mine which started in the 1860s and which had ceased by the 1920s.
