Shirnengiin Ayuush was a Mongolian composer, novelist and art historian, one of the leading composers of Mongolia in the 1930s. He was born in Bayanzürkh, near the capital of Ulaanbaatar. He graduated from the Institute of Oriental Studies in Moscow in 1924, and was employed by the government in the 1930s, becoming artistic director of the Ministry of the People in 1934, and the Vice Minister of the Ministry from 1936.
