text: Sheldon Victor Ekman was an American attorney and tax law expert who served as a judge of the United States Tax Court from 1980 to 1982. Born in Manchester, New Hampshire, Ekman received an A.B. from Harvard College in 1939, followed by a J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1942. He served in the United States Navy in World War II, from 1942 to 1945, attaining the rank of lieutenant. He was a trial attorney in the Office of Chief Counsel, Internal Revenue Service, in New York City, from 1945 to 1950
