The Sharif family is the most prominent political family in Pakistan and are based in Lahore. The Sharif Family are Punjabi Speaking Kashmiris with their origin in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir and settled in Punjab in the late 20th century Muhammad Sharif, the father of former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif, migrated from Jati Umra, Amritsar District.
