Sergey Antonovich Bobruk was a Belarusian Soviet Army lieutenant general and a Hero of the Soviet Union. After joining the Red Army during the final phases of the Russian Civil War, Bobruk became a junior commander in cavalry units, serving in the suppression of the Basmachi movement. During the interwar period, he went on to serve in staff positions, and by the beginning of Operation Barbarossa was head of a division operational department.
