On 10 September 2024, the Israel Defense Forces conducted airstrikes on a designated humanitarian "safe zone" in Al-Mawasi near Khan Yunis in the Gaza Strip during the Israel–Hamas war. The Gaza Health Ministry reported that at least 19 to 40 Palestinians were killed in the attack and more than 60 others were injured. The Gaza Civil Defense described the attack as a massacre.
