Selenite broth is used as a selective medium for the isolation of Salmonella species. Selenite broth was originated by Leifson, while observing good recovery of Salmonella spp. and reduced growth of fecal coliforms. Selenite broth is used as a selective enrichment for the cultivation of Salmonella
