Savoy blue or Savoy azure, also known as Italian blue, is a shade of saturated blue between peacock blue and periwinkle, lighter than peacock blue. Since the middle ages, it is the colour of the House of Savoy, the royal dynasty of the Kingdom of Italy from 1861 to 1946. Having become a National symbol of Italy with the Risorgimento (1859–70), its use continued even after the birth of the Italian Republic (1946) under the name Italian blue.
