The San José Costa Rica Temple is the 87th operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The church's First Presidency announced on March 17, 1999, that a temple would be built in San José, Costa Rica. The announcement of the San José Costa Rica Temple made it the first temple in Costa Rica and the second temple in Central America.
