text: Samuel Knox was an American politician and abolitionist who represented Missouri in the United States House of Representatives during the American Civil War. Born in Blandford, Massachusetts, Knox attended the common schools. He graduated from Williams College in 1836 and subsequently studied law at Harvard University.
