text: Salvia amethystina is a large aromatic undershrub that is endemic to Colombia. It is found in cloud forests and in bushy ground, often in riparian areas by streams, at 2,500 to 3,500 m elevation. The plant reaches .5 to 1.5 m tall, and sometimes taller, with ovate leaves that are 4 to 12 cm long and 2 to 7 cm wide. The corolla is very large, 1.7 to 3 cm long, and usually blue, rarely purple.
