Raoul "Rudi" Dudal was a Belgian soil scientist. He was born in Brugge. He graduated in agricultural engineering in 1949 and took a PhD in agricultural sciences in 1955, both at the Catholic University of Leuven. From 1955 to 1984 he worked in the FAO, among others as the chief of soil resources development and conservation service from 1970 to 1975 and director of the Land and Water Development Division from 1976 to 1984.
