At the time of his death, he was the Chairman of the Board of Kampala Hospital, a private hospital that he co-founded and co-owned in Kampala, Uganda's capital city. He served in the past as Professor of Medicine and Head of the Department of Internal Medicine at Makerere University School of Medicine.
