text: Rhododendron wallichii (簇毛杜鹃) is a rhododendron species native to northeastern India, eastern Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, and southern Xizang in China, where it grows at altitudes of 3,000–4,300 m (9,800–14,100 ft). Growing to 2–4 m (6.6–13.1 ft) in height, it is an evergreen shrub with leathery leaves that are elliptic to oblong-obovate, 7–12 by 2.5–5 cm in size. The flowers are purple-red to white, with red spots. Some authorities consider it a synonym of Rhododendron campanulatum.
