Porochista Khakpour is an Iranian American novelist, essayist, and journalist. A refugee from Iran whose family fled the Iran-Iraq War and the Islamic Revolution, Khakpour grew up in the Greater Los Angeles area before moving to New York to attend Sarah Lawrence College. She is the author of five books, including her 2007 debut novel Sons and Other Flammable Objects.
