title: Polka
text: Polka is a dance style and genre of dance music originating in nineteenth-century Bohemia, now part of the Czech Republic. Though associated with Czech culture, polka is popular throughout Europe and the Americas. Polkas—as they often are referred to—are typically dance tunes in 2/4 time, and form a large part of the traditional dance culture and music repertoire of Ireland, most notably in the country's southernmost province of Munster, in the Counties of Cork, Kerry and parts of Limerick.
