Its common name is the Barbie pagoda fungus due to its brilliant pink color similar to cotton candy and multi-tiered appearance, possessing 3 to 6 pilei stacked one above the other which are separated by about one-half inch of stem between pilei, as opposed to having a single pileus like most other agaricoid fungi.
