Francis Alphonse Wood was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Wood was a Western Australian, who started out at North Fremantle before playing with South Fremantle in the 1906 season. He then joined South Melbourne, in 1907, for a two-year stint. In his first season, he played in a Grand Final loss and the following year he represented the VFL at the 1908 Melbourne Carnival. Once his time at South Melbourne came to an end he sign
