Pettineo is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 80 kilometres (50 mi) east of Palermo and about 110 kilometres (68 mi) west of Messina. Pettineo is a beautifully restored medieval city, situated on a hilltop with a view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, In the center, are the ruins of a Norman-era castle, and on the outskirts, there is a Franciscan convent. Most employment is agricultural, with fields and olive groves surrounding the town.
