It was designed by Francis Drummond Greville Stanley and Robert and John Ferguson, and built in 1878 and 1888 by the Queensland Department of Public Works. It is also known as Pine River North State School, North Pine River Provisional School, and North Pine State School. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 10 October 2014.
