She received an O'Henry Prize in 2022 for her short story "Breastmilk" and a second in 2023 for "The Hollow." "Breastmilk" was also shortlisted for the 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing. Her novel-in-progress, The Suicide Mothers, won the 2020 Deborah Rogers Foundation Award.
