'Pemi Aguda is a Nigerian writer and architect. Her first book, Ghostroots, was longlisted for the 2024 National Book Award for Fiction. She received an O'Henry Prize in 2022 for her short story "Breastmilk" and a second in 2023 for "The Hollow." "Breastmilk" was also shortlisted for the 2024 Caine Prize for African Writing. Her novel-in-progress, The Suicide Mothers, won the 2020 Deborah Rogers Foundation Award.
