Otto Walper was a German theologian and philosopher. Otto Walper was born in Rotenburg an der Fulda, and studied at the University of Marburg, where he later became the main professor of Greek and Hebrew, having received a Ph.D. degree at the University of Basel in 1582. Being a Lutheran, Walper left Marburg in 1593 after the ruling Prince of Hesse-Kassel converted to Calvinism and professors at the territory's university were expected to follow suit.
