Oppidum Uetliberg was a La Tène era oppidum located near the top of the hill Uetliberg in what is now the Swiss canton of Zurich. It is one of the most important Iron Age fortifications in Switzerland, dating the very early La Tène or the late Hallstatt period. Early excavations on the Üetliberg were made in the 1830s and 1860s. A 5th century BC burial field was destroyed when the Üetliberg railway was built in 1874. The fortified area was at a height of between 820 and 873 metres above sea leve
